This is not felt making. This is making a painting using layers of merino wool and enhancing it with silk or viscose fibres. This is a workshop for anyone. You do not need to have an Art Degree or any experience working with wool. This is an easy step by step workshop which is designed for you to have fun with different wools and experiment with colour and fibres. In this workshop you will make a fantastic felted scarf. Felted scarves are light weight, yet surprisingly warm and snug. You will learn how to lay out wool fibres to create wearable and even felt. You will explore different decorative fibres, silks and threads and use them to decorate your scarf. I will also teach you to make an even edge. At the end of this 6 hour workshop you will take home a sumptuous scarf or a wrap.

Nuno felt handbagNuno Felted handbag (Beginners + workshop),  Sunday 23rd July 11am-6pm, Saturday 11th November 11am-6pm £75 + materials

In this workshop you will design and make a unique seamless handbag. You will make a pattern for your bag and find out how to calculate a shrinkage coefficient for your work. You will learn how to combine wool and silk and create a wearable felt. I will supply a bag frame which you will fit to your bag. At the end of this class you will take home a one-off designer handbag.

 

 

 

Handfelted berets and scarfHandmade berets ( Beginners + workshop), Saturday 16th September 11am-5pm, £65 (materials included)

Design and make a beret of your choice. Do not worry if you never made felt or have very little experience of felt making. This is your opportunity to learn basic felt making techniques and experiment with different textures and fibres. Explore the qualities of felting wool and other materials, such as silk, viscose and yarn. In this workshop you will also find out how to use a pattern to make 3D items.

Nuno felted clutch purseNuno Felted clutch purse (Beginners + workshop), Saturday 3rd February 11am-6pm, £65 + materials

This is a great workshop for enthusiastic beginners. It will teach you wet felting technique. You will get an opportunity to design and make a clutch purse which could be used as a make-up bag or a bag for essentials (mobile phone, money, keys and lipstick). At this workshop you will learn to combine silk and wool and use a resistant technique to create a seamless purse. I will supply a purse frame for you and teach you how to fit it. At the end of this workshop you will have a great gift, a clutch purse, for you or your friend which you can take with you.

During this workshop you will make a fantastic scarf with frills in Nuno Felting technique. You will learn how to lay out wool fibres to create wearable and even felt. You will explore different decorative fibres, silks and threads and use them to decorate your scarf. I will also teach you to make a frill and even edge. This is a great workshop for complete beginners. Work alongside the experienced Tutor and Felt Maker Raya Brown. Learn basics of wet felting technique and explore different stages of felt making. Experiment with different wool fibres, prefelt, silks and yarns. Design and create your own wall hanging which will make your home cosy and brighten up your interior.

This is a great chance for anyone to learn history of felt making as well as discover how wonderfully versatile felt is in one workshop! During the first part of this workshop the students will have a lecture with slides about felt making traditions, processes and techniques. They will be able to see some original felt work of Russian artist Raya Brown which will illustrate felt making techniques such as Nuno felting, Needle felting and Wet felting. During the second part of the workshop the students will try out 2 felt making techniques of their choice and make two felt pieces. Everyone is welcome- no matter if you are a beginner or an experienced felt maker. You will find out lots of useful information and enjoy the company of creative and enthusiastic people.

You will make unique hand felted flowers which you can wear as a brooch or to attach to a handbag or a hat. During this workshop you will learn how to make basic felt using merino felting wool and add various fibres to decorate it. You will experiment with design, colour and texture.
