Dear Friends,

I hope you are your families are well.
We are still living through  challenging times and with a possibility of a new lockdown some of you might feel a bit fed up and low.  However, life goes on and we have to adapt to the new ways of living and accept what we can not change. These strange times give us a chance to learn a lot about ourselves, to explore new possibilities and to look at life differently. 

I do hope that Art and Craft projects , new creative ideas and ability to see the beauty in life/nature have been helping you to  get through these times. I have offered you various Zoom projects  and exciting new courses which many of you attended virtually and face-to-face  and I hope that it helped you to find peace and harmony within yourself and was therapeutic for your soul.

I will continue supporting you with my courses and workshops and new creative and inspirational projects. I would like to encourage you to continue creating  beautiful Art and email me photos of your Art and Craft work. I would love to see them.

These are the latest news from the Magic Wool Art and Craft Studio.
We successfully finished two ‘Fun with watercolour’ courses and the project zoom course ‘Birds and Natural Form’ had been well received with some fantastic outcomes. Please see the photos below. 

I am so pleased that finally we managed to complete the 14-week  Fundamental Art skills courses and Watercolour courses that we started in January with some students showing exceptional results. Well done!

In preparation for Christmas there will be some interesting ‘Watercolour Christmas cards’ Interactive courses happening soon.  I will also teach short courses on wool painting online where you could make a fantastic wool painting gift for your loved ones or yourself.

Please notice that now you could buy a wool painting kit from me.  It will make a lovely Christmas present for anyone. Some Christmas cards from Magic Wool Studio with high quality prints of my work are also available on sale.

January 2021

10-week interactive online ‘Introduction to Portrait course’  Mondays 6pm-9pm. Starting Monday 11th of January. Cost £15 a week. (Some experience in Art is recommended) 
 You are welcome to watch this video about our last Portrait course celebrating the achievement of my students.

This is a brilliant interactive lockdown course for those who are eager to learn how to draw beautiful portraits in a classroom environment and develop their artistic skills further. This is a great chance for everyone to observe professional artist’s demonstrations, ask questions and socialise with like-minded people.

The course will teach you how to capture facial proportions and likeness and show feelings and emotions in your portraits. You will have a chance to explore your creativity using various materials such as pastels, charcoal and graphite or other materials available to you as well as different techniques, including collage. You will develop your observational skills and study portraits created by famous artists. You will receive plenty of individual help being guided and inspired by a professional Artist and Tutor Raya Brown.  Small groups of learners and clear step-by-step instructions are guaranteed.  Some visual resources and recordings of online classes will be provided.

What you will learn:

• To understand basic anatomy
• You will learn about facial proportions
• You will understand and learn how to draw facial features
• How to simplify the head into basic forms to help you draw realistic portraits
• You will learn how to show three-dimensional qualities of a human head using tone
• You will learn how to capture likeness
• How to show feelings and emotions in your portraits
• Learn how to draw a head from different angles
• Study portraits by famous artists
• Learn to use pastels, charcoal and graphite or other materials available to you as well as different techniques, including collage to create some expressive portraits

10-week interactive online ‘Fundamental Art Skills’ Course for complete beginners in Art. Wednesdays 10am-1pm. Starting Wednesday  27th of January. Cost £15 a week. You are welcome to watch the video of the  exhibition of my students’ work who attended this course. The exhibition took place at Kidderminster Library.

Due to a high demand Magic Wool Art and Craft Studio in Kidderminster  will be delivering  the Fundamental Art Skills Courses again .   The course  will be running  once a week,  3 hours a week  for 10 weeks. 

This is a unique opportunity for Art and Craft lovers, beginners and people with some experience in Art and Craft to receive a proper  Art education in the traditional methods by a professional artist and a tutor Raya Brown.

Raya’s teaching is based on classical Art education with emphasis on the importance of developing solid traditional foundation skills in drawing and painting.

This course will assist you to take your Art and Craft projects to the next level and gain confidence in developing your own ideas and artistic style.

The course will include:

• Building strong basis of drawing skills and techniques
• Exploring  line, shape, form, tone, texture, pattern and colour
• Developing knowledge of composition, proportions and perspective
