Students from Magic Wool Art and Craft Studio in Worcestershire visited Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

Great visit to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery !

What a fantastic day I had yesterday with my students at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery! We managed to see so much- Victorian paintings, landscapes and portraits by 18th and 19th century British artists, Pre-Raphaelites …! The highlight of our visit was the exhibition of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci! It was very helpful to study the Leonardo’s original drawings and to see the great use of line, tone and analytical drawings of people, animals, etc. What a genius! A great mind of all times!

My students and I also had very interesting discussions about some paintings and analysed carefully compositions, colour combinations and subjects. Since we are studying watercolours at the moment we viewed the famous watercolour paintings of David Cox and some Pre-Raphaelites and explored the techniques and materials they used. It was a great experience and we really enjoyed sharing our thoughts and feelings about the art work we saw!
