Bratislava Felt making project with The British International School

I have just returned from Bratislava, Slovakia where I delivered a Felt making project at the British International School. I enjoyed it so much!! What a great school!  Lovely students and teachers! They made me feel so welcome!!

The pupils learnt about the history and origins of felt making and watched my felt making demonstration.

They made a beautiful felted wall hanging and some small felt pieces.  Their wall hanging was based on their local environment theme with the mountains and Bratislava castle in the background and wild flowers and insects in the foreground. Their small felted pieces represented the insects and birds.

The children had a chance to explore all stages of wet felting process and experiment with merino wool, various fibres and yarns. The colour blends and textures that they achieved look wonderful! They really enjoyed  learning  a new skill of felt making. They loved therapeutic and tactile experience of working with natural fibres and were very pleased and proud of  their end results.

Thank you so much to all the pupils and teachers from the British International School in Slovakia!
